How to calculate FD maturity

Enter the deposit, annual rate, tenure and compounding frequency, then compare maturity with principal to see estimated interest.

Inputs to verify

Check whether the rate is annual, whether the tenure includes months, and whether interest is compounded monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly.

Maturity versus interest

Maturity is the total at the end of tenure. Estimated interest is maturity less the initial principal; it should not be confused with a periodic payout.

Before acting

Premature withdrawal can reduce the effective return or attract a penalty. Tax treatment including TDS depends on current rules and individual circumstances; confirm with the bank and applicable guidance.
