GST

How GST is calculated

To add GST, multiply the base amount by the applicable rate. To remove GST from an inclusive amount, divide by one plus the rate.

Adding GST

For a ₹10,000 base amount at 18%, GST is ₹1,800 and the inclusive total is ₹11,800.

Removing GST

For an inclusive ₹11,800 amount at 18%, the pre-tax value is ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000. Subtract that base from the inclusive amount to get GST.

Rate and split

The calculator does not determine classification or rate. For an intra-State supply, GST is commonly split into CGST and SGST; for an inter-State supply, IGST may apply. Verify treatment for the actual transaction.
